This Privacy Policy describes how SF Parking ("we", "us", or "our") handles your information when you use our iOS application. SF Parking shows parking meter rates and garage availability in San Francisco. It has no accounts and no sign-in.
If you allow it, SF Parking uses your device's location while the app is open to show metered blocks and garages near you. It never uses your location in the background. You can decline or turn off location access at any time in Settings; the app then shows a default area of San Francisco instead.
To find parking near you, the app sends your device's coordinates to our server, which replies with nearby parking rates. These requests are not tied to your name, an account, or any identifier we assign to you.
When you search for a place or address, what you type is sent to Apple's MapKit service to suggest matching places, and is subject to Apple's Privacy Policy. When you choose a place, its coordinates are sent to our server to find parking near it, in the same way as your own location.
Our server does not log requests. We do not record your IP address or the coordinates you send, and we do not store them in any database.
To keep the app fast, the server's answer to a request may be cached for up to 5 minutes so the next request for the same spot can be answered quickly. The cache holds parking rates for that location only, with no IP address or anything else that identifies you, and it expires on its own.
Our server runs on Cloudflare, which necessarily handles your IP address to deliver requests and protect the service from abuse. That handling is subject to Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
The map is provided by Apple Maps. When you ask for directions, the app hands the destination to Apple Maps or Google Maps, and what happens next is covered by that app's privacy policy.
The app saves a copy of recent parking data on your device so it can still show rates when you are offline. This contains parking rates only, not your location history, and you can remove it by deleting the app.
Meter rates and garage availability come from public data published by the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA). SF Parking is not affiliated with or endorsed by the SFMTA or the City and County of San Francisco.
SF Parking is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
